The Bramble

Venture back to London, 1984. In the heart of the vibrant Soho district, at the iconic Fred's Club, a mixologist named Dick Bradsell was crafting magic. With a vision to champion a British cocktail that was shorter than the typical tipple, Bradsell masterfully concocted what we now relish as the Bramble.

The setting: You’re wandering through the lush English countryside, the soft whispers of the wind carry the sweet scent of wild berries, and the golden rays of the setting sun paint the horizon in hues of amber and rose. The Bramble captures the essence of this magical hour in one exquisite glass.

Lifting it to your lips, the tantalizing aroma of berries envelops you, promising an intoxicating journey of tastes. With every sip, you're transported to those languid late-summer evenings, where time slows and moments linger.

Ingredients:

  • 40ml Dry Gin
  • 20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 10ml Sugar Syrup
  • 10ml Blackberry Liqueur (such as Crème de Mûre)
  • Fresh blackberries (for garnish)
  • Lemon twist or slice (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Glass: Fill an Old Fashioned or rocks glass with crushed ice.
  2. Mix the Basics: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes, combine the gin, fresh lemon juice, and sugar syrup. Shake well until the outside of the shaker is cold.
  3. Strain: Strain the mixture into your prepared glass over the crushed ice.
  4. Drizzle: Gently drizzle the blackberry liqueur over the top, so it trickles down through the ice.
  5. Garnish: Place a couple of fresh blackberries on top and add a twist or slice of lemon.
  6. Serve: Present with a short straw and enjoy immediately!
